Sunday–Attributes

There are a few people in the Bible that are known, not only by their name, but also by their description.   For example,  we know Abraham as a “friend of GOD.”  Here are a few verses that include a person’s name, and an attribute for which they are well known.

Genesis 5:22  “Enoch walked with GOD.”

Genesis 6:8  “Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.”

James 2:23  “Abraham. . .he was called the Friend of GOD.”

Numbers 12:3  “Moses was very meek, above all men which were upon the face of the earth.”

Deuteronomy 34:9  “Joshua. . .was full of the spirit of wisdom.”

Daniel 6:3  “Daniel. . .an excellent spirit was in him.”

III John 1:12  “Demetrius hath good report of all men.”

Let’s recap.  We have walking with GOD, finding grace, a friend of GOD, very meek, full of wisdom, having a good report.  All these (mainly Patriarchs) are men.  Let’s look at the distinctive attributes of some woman.

I Samuel 25:3  “Abigail. . .she was a women of good understanding, and of a beautiful countenance.

II John 1:1  “. . .the elect lady and her children.”

Romans 16:1  “Phebe. . .which is a servant of the church. . .she hath been a succourer [helper] of many.”  succourer = someone who gives help in time of need.

Romans 16:3-4  “Priscilla (wife) and Aquilla (husband) my helpers in CHRIST JESUS, who have for my life laid down their own necks. . .”

Romans 16:6  “Mary, who bestowed much labour on us.”

This example is more of a story than a sentence, however, this woman is famous for what she did.  In fact, JESUS, Himself, said that wherever this story is told she would be memorialized.  Let’s read it.

Mark 14:3 – 9  [Mary]”. . .as HE sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on HIS head. . .She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.  Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.”

So what would I want said about me?  What will the LORD actually say?

rebecca, who. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Is this where I am putting my energy, emphasis, and enthusiasm?

You give it a try.  What would you want said.    (Insert your name), who. . . (insert a comment).

sincerely,

–rebecca, who. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ..

This post has had me thinking. I think mine would ideally be a true helpmeet and a prudent woman. Oh the longings of the heart. . .only possible with the Lord’s help.
