She Said–Our Summer Officially Ended With a BANG!

I’ve been gone.

I have missed you.

Let’s catch up.

Here’s some photos of our summer.  We visited The Hunni’s family out West.  I flew out with the kids.

Hunni’s grandma turned 100!!!! so we all attended her party.  Then we caravaned out to Lake Chelan to my brother and sister-in-law’s place.  For about 8 hours 29 of the 32 members of the Hunni’s Family were all together in one place.  Amazing.  We ate, water skied, talked, ate, golfed, ate, laughed, swam, snacked, 4X4-ed, tubed, sun-bathed, visited, ate, hot-tubbed, drank, laughed, and had a midnight snack.

Hunni and Little Big Guy came home early as our baseball team went to State.  I flew home only to leave two days later to visit The farm.  My brother had a birthday, a new house, and a new baby–so I surprised him and came down.  The Hunni joined me and we drove home together.

We then started to get ready for our Backyard VBS.  Thankfully, my sun-kissed, blonde, California cousin flew out to help us.

The day our Backyard VBS ended we packed up and headed to the other side of  the state to do the same routine at a Christian Family Camp.

We ended up at Notre Dame where we slept on a BED!!! for the first time in a week.  Here we were joined by my parents and we were able to catch up a bit.  The Hunni’s brother is an assistant woman’s volleyball coach to the Vandals (University of Idaho) and we watch him coach several games.  We also met up with my cousin who is playing football for Notre Dame.  I remember him when he was 3 days old.  Where did 20 years go?

We woke up early Sunday morning to head back to our home church/meeting–then slept the rest of the day.

Monday was my cousin’s last day with us, so we toured U of M and went out to eat.  The papyrus scrolls weren’t viewable, but we did stop by another library where we had a wonderful tour.

We got home just in time to rush my California Cousin off to the airport and then headed to a Tiger’s game where we met up with our Little League team.  During the game we gave out awards and Glow-Stick-Baseball caps.  If you are thinking that the BANG from the title of this post “Our Summer ended with a Bang” is fireworks after the game, you guessed wrong.  I wish you were right.  The BANG comes a little later.

The game ended late and on the way home we stopped by DTW airport to pick up a rental car for the Hunni to take to work.   The kids were playing with the Glow-Sticks and two of them broke sending eerily glowing paint onto the car.   It was almost midnight when I turned onto our street.  I was very tired and passed our house.  I was carefully holding the broken Glow Sticks in my hand so that they wouldn’t continue leaking all over the car.  I started to back up when BANG!!! I hit our neighbor’s car.  ouch.  So yes.  Our summer officially ended with a BANG.

I hope your official ending to summer was a little less expensive.

P.S.  Our neighbor was supremely kind.  She was very understanding.  I’m so glad she is our neighbor.

P.S.S.  I may post more vacations photos later.  Hope your summer was wonderful.

What a treat to read all your adventures… even the bang wasn’t too bad!!!

Pictures were so fun as I know so many of your relatives… since they were tiny, and love them all…

So great to see pictures of your fun filled, action packed summer. It was fun for me to see pictures of your west coast family, I haven’t seen a lot of them for years! Your kids are getting so big and still all so cute! Sorry to hear about your car (and the neighbor’s). Oh, and go Vandals! ; )

Of course you would be a Vandals fan. If you are ever up there and want to attend a volleyball game, Steve can usually add some of his friends to the “Guest List” which means you get in for free. Suz and family sure enjoyed their time at your place. I wich we could come some time. sigh! It isn’t cheap getting this family all the way across the country.
