PRODIGAL SON VRS.
PERFECT SON

Luke 15:11  And he said, A certain man had two sons.

John 3: 16  . . .For  GOD so loved the world, that HE gave his “one and only son.

And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that
falleth to me.  And he divided unto them his living.

Isaiah 6:8  I heard  the voice of the LORD, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?  Then said I, Here am I; send me.

And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

Insert a verse here, I just don’t know which one to  use.

And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.

Luke 9: 12  . . . We  are here in a desert place.  . . .He  said, Give ye them to eat. . .Then  HE took the five loaves and two fishes, and  looking up to heaven, HE blessed them, and brake and gave. . .they did eat, and  were all filled. . .there. .  .remained. . .12 baskets.

And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

Luke 4: 30  But HE passing through the midst of them went HIS way.

And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and
no man gave unto him.

John 4:34  JESUS  saith, . . .My meat is to do the will of HIM that sent ME, and to finish HIS work.

And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

Luke 4: 2  . . . Being  40 days tempted of the devil.  And in  those days HE did eat  nothing: and when they were ended, HE afterward hungered.  . .”Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of GOD.

I will arise and go to my father, and will say  unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee.

Luke 23:34  Then said,  JESUS, FATHER forgive them; for they know not what  they do.

And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of they hired servants.

Luke 3:22  THOU art my beloved SON; in THEE I am  well pleased.

And he arose, and came to his father.  But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.

Mark 15:34  . . .My GOD,  my GOD why hast THOU forsaken me?

And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight,
and am no more worthy to be called they son.

Luke 23:41  . . . This MAN hath done nothing amiss.

But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a
ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:

John 19:5  Then came  JESUS forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe.   Psalm 22:18  They parted my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.  Isaiah 61:10  HE hath  clothed me with the garments of salvation, HE hath covered me with the robe of righteousness.

And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry.  For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.  And they began to be merry!

Philippians 2:8
CHRIST JESUS. . .being in the form of GOD. . .made HIMSELF of no reputation,. . .took. . . the form of a servant,. . .was made in the likeness of man. . .HE humbled HIMSELF,. . .became obedient unto death, . . .even the death of the cross.  Wherefore GOD also hath highly exalted HIM!

Amen,

–rebecca

P.S.  I couldn’t find a comparison verse for “And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.”  I was thinking of the Prodigal Son “wasting his substance” compared to THE PERFECT SON who is the exact opposite of this, but I couldn’t think of a good verse.  If you have any thoughts I would enjoy hearing them.

The first one I thought of is the end of John 8:29 “I do always those things that please Him (the Father).” Another one that I find SO challenging: Rom. 15:3 “Even Christ pleased not Himself.” This was so good, Rebecca!

I was mailed three other verses to consider. Matthew 13:46 “Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it”. Ephesians 5:2 “And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.” II Corinthians 8:9 “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”
